Ariana Grande is in hot water for posting photos of herself on Instagram. Now, that might sound like an inoffensive gesture, but the pop star apparently didn't credit nor pay the photographer, as per TMZ.
On Tuesday (May 14), the celebrity gossip outlet reported that Robert Barbera didn't offer Grande the rights to post shots of her out and about on the social media platform. Grande did not pay Barbera for the photos, either. According to court documents obtained by The Blast, the pop titan shared the photos on August 17, 2018, the day that her album, Sweetener, dropped. Grande's high-profile presence on Instagram is important context to the debacle, considering she boasts 154 million followers and the photos in question scored 3,392,035 likes. Barbera is asking for either the profits she earned from the photos or $25,000 for each photo, whichever amount is greater.
In related Grande news, the superstar was recently announced as the new face of Givenchy. On Friday, the French luxury fashion and perfume brand unveiled the singer as its spokeswoman for its 2019 Fall and Winter collections. The line arrives in July. To celebrate the partnership, Givenchy released a video promo, which sees the singer belting runs while wearing a gown that looks similar to Audrey Hepburn's iconic black dress (also designed by Hubert de Givenchy) in Breakfast at Tiffany's.
