(Johnston, IA) -- April is the month when many families are working on financial aid for college. One scholarship opportunity is also saving lives. Students who host a blood drive can earn scholarships. To be eligible for the scholarship, students must recruit donors, act as the chairperson for the blood drive, and register 25 donors ($250 awarded) or 40 donors ($500 awarded).
Lifeserve Blood Center says blood donations drop during summer, but the need doesn’t. Tim Paluch, LifeServe Blood Center says O Negative and O Positive have the greatest need. Paluch says last year the program gave 103 students $27,000 in scholarships. Learn more at lifeservebloodcenter.org or call 800.287.4903.
