Traveling Over Thanksgiving? GOOD LUCK!

Orbitz Names LAX As Busiest Airport For 2011 Thanksgiving Travel

Now that it’s November we can all start focusing on Thanksgiving, and according to a new report, for a lot of people that will mean traveling to their Thanksgiving destination.

According to Airlines for America, a trade group representing most of the largest carriers, a record 28.5-million people are expected to travel during the 12-day Thanksgiving travel period, which is a 3% increase from last year, which itself saw a new record of 27-million people traveling.

And it’s safe to say folks getting on a plane are bound to be dealing with a lot of crowds. Those estimates will translate into about 2.38-million passengers a day getting on planes, which is up 69,000 daily from last year.

Of course there’s not much you can do to avoid the crowds, although there will definitely be some days that will busier than others. Overall, Sunday, November 26th will likely be the busiest day, with an estimated 2.88 million people traveling, followed by Wednesday November 22ndand Friday 17th. If you want to do your best to avoid the craziness, try traveling on Thanksgiving Day itself, when only 1.61-million people are expected to fly.
