Austin Pets Alive! (for help in pet evacuation and safe sheltering)
Austin Pets Alive! is an animal shelter and no-kill pet advocacy group seeking assistance to help with pets, following the onset of the storm, and has created a page on its website specific to Hurricane Harvey-related needs.
One of the most compelling photos coming out of the Harvey disaster is that of a room of elderly residents at a Dickinson, TX, nursing home sitting in waist-deep flood water. The photo went viral and spurred a quicker rescue action for the facility.
