Father's Day Jazz

Here are a few tracks to add to this year's Father's Day soundtrack (courtesy of NPR, June 12, 2008).

Of course, the granddaddy of them all is "Song For My Father" by Horace Silver (pictured) but you might want to give these few a listen, as well.

Old Man by Brad Mehldau (a thoughtful rendition of the Neil Young favorite)

One For Daddy-O by Cannonball Adderley (a tribute to Chicago's original Jazz Patio host)

I'm A Ding Dong Daddy by Louis Armstrong (let's not forget that his nickname was "Pops") and

Daddy's Groove by David Arnay (featured here).

Maybe one or all may end up on your patriarch's personal playlist. Happy Father's Day!
