Selena Gomez is proud of the work she put into her earlier music, but there is one song that she would “redo” if given the chance.
The Rare Beauty founder appeared as a guest on a recent episode of the Therapuss podcast, where she told host Jake Shane that she would re-record the 2011 hit “Who Says” that she released in the group Selena Gomez & The Scene, which she led from 2009 to 2012, per People.
However, it’s not because she doesn’t enjoy the track; in fact, it is “hands-down” her “favorite” song from that time. Rather, it's because of how "young" she sounded in the original recording. She was around 19 years old at the time the song came out as the lead single for the group's album When the Sun Goes Down.
"It's the most powerful moment when I get to perform it. That's honestly the only reason I would ever do a tour again ... is if I could perform 'Who Says,'" she said, quipping that now, at 33 years old, she would have to "take it down an octave from each year I've sang it."
"I need to redo it," she said. "I should recut it."
Elsewhere in the chat, the Only Murders in the Building star shared some insight into her friendship with bestie Taylor Swift, including revealing the track that she got to hear before it was ever released and became one of Swift's biggest songs.
